A Christmas Message…
I want my first words to you as your supply minister for the next several months to be gratitude for this privilege and an invitation for you to seek me out if I can be of any pastoral support to you, a family member or somebody you know. These are stressful times, but nobody has to pass through them alone. You can reach me online at l.packard@verizon.net, my cell phone at 703-606-3109 or my landline 703-425-8315.
No doubt this is a difficult time of a pandemic—a 100 year flood! The coming vaccines may still seem a long way off for most of us. Yet I am persuaded by what I see in your parish that the life formed in you around that altar still breathes life into you. Your worship has remained vibrant, you walk the extra mile to care for each other, and your mission in the community goes forward. I will do whatever I can to take my place to work with your Vestry and Staff to expand and enrich those ministries.
In particular, I am eager to work with your Vestry and Staff by supporting them in setting their priorities for the first part of the New Year. I am ready and willing to support the Vestry in whatever way I possibly can to promote the search process. I believe that even now as I write these words, God is preparing your new rector to be your partner-in-ministry.
May the humility of the shepherds, the joy of the angels, the perseverance of the wisemen, and the peace of the Christ-child be God’s gift to us this Christmas and in our ministry together!
